Reinstate MC/FF/Broker Number

Reinstate or reactivate operating authority with these specific steps outlined.

If you wish to reinstate or reactivate your operating authority, whether it's an MC, FF, or MX Docket Number, there are specific steps you need to follow:

  1. File Proof of Insurance and Form BOC-3: To begin the reinstatement process, you must submit your Proof of Insurance and Form BOC-3 (Designation of Process Agent) to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). These documents ensure that you meet the necessary insurance requirements and have designated a process agent for legal matters.

  2. Active USDOT Number: For motor carriers, it is essential to have an active USDOT Number with updated contact information on record. If your USDOT Number is inactive or out of service, you will not be able to request reinstatement. You can include a biennial update along with your reinstatement request to update your information.

  3. Activation of Authority: Typically, once your application and payment are received, your authority will become active within a week. However, there may be instances where your application is put on hold pending additional information or undergoes vetting under review. FMCSA will notify you regarding the status of your application.

  4. Dismissed Authority: If your operating authority has been dismissed for more than one year, you will need to reapply for a new authority. In such cases, the reinstatement process does not apply, and you will need to go through the application process as if you were applying for the authority for the first time.

By following these steps and fulfilling the necessary requirements, you can initiate the reinstatement process for your MC, FF, or Broker Number. It's important to comply with FMCSA regulations and provide accurate and up-to-date information to ensure a smooth reinstatement process.
